BRINGING SENIOR ENGINEERING PROJECTS ONLINE: MICHIGAN ENGINEERING TESTIMONIAL
Earlier this spring we worked with the Multidisciplinary Design Program (MDP) at the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering to bring senior engineering projects from their annual Design Expo online.
The Design Expo is a day-long showcase of senior engineering projects that gives the community a chance to see what Michigan Engineers have been working on. MDP was looking for an easy way to showcase student projects online and highlight the company sponsors that make the Expo a success.
We asked Shawn Salata, MDP Student Program Specialist and all-around Design Expo guru, to share her feedback on using Seelio for the Spring 2013 Expo.
WHAT PROBLEM WERE YOU FACING THAT SEELIO SOLVED?
We were looking for the best way to capture and showcase the senior engineering projects on display at the College Design Expo. In recent years, we have captured a quick 60-90 second video from each project (and there are 70-120 projects at each Expo), then uploaded them individually to our Facebook page. This was time-consuming and ineffective. With so many videos, the audience had to scroll through many postings to get to a project they might be looking for; or they may only look at the most recently posted videos, never even seeing 90% of the projects.
HOW HAS SEELIO IMPROVED YOUR ABILITY TO HELP STUDENTS LEARN FROM AND DOCUMENT THEIR EXPERIENCES?
